Pumpkin Patch - Round 1

I am so thankful that our family has been able to start a few family traditions.  Buck and I have certainly kept some traditions from our individual families, but one tradition we have started just for us is to visit the pumpkin patch to get our pumpkins for the fall.  It not only includes a hay ride to the pumpkin patch (behind a TRACTOR!), but also involves a petting zoo, face painting and hay structures to climb on.

We met our friends, Jen and Jeff, and their girls Megan and Ava.  First up was the hay bales.

Such a cutie...

Oh, sweet girl...

Deciding if it is worth coming in
After the kids burned some energy climbing on the hay bales we had a bit of wait for the tractor to ride to the pumpkin patch, so we checked out the farm animals.  We had convinced Hyat there would be a zebra, so he was a little disappointed.  But the pigs seem to have made up for it.

Hyat just kept telling us they were REALLY HUNGRY

Checking on the pigs again...
The Pygmy goat... this little one was not afraid to head-butt or chase the ranch dog that came by!

I was trying to get a sweet pic with Embrie in the flowers, but she
wasn't interested in holding still or looking cute!
There was little confusion about where the line was to get on the tractor... okay, actually some people are just really rude and pushy and would skip the line altogether, so we practiced patience and were glad when we got to ride because the kids were rapidly reaching their max stand around and wait limit. Last year we made our first trip to the pumpkin patch and we were amazed that our shy boy jumped up at the offer to drive the tractor and didn't look back at us... This year he was so excited to drive the tractor.  When we got on he asked Buck if he could drive and Buck told him he needed to go ask the driver.  So Hyat, who is still shy around strangers and even people he has not seen for awhile, walked right up to her and asked to drive.

2 of my favorite people...
That one there - he is the love of my life!
Yes, I am smirking... Probably at Buck...
After we got to the patch it was time to pick our pumpkins.  We couldn't find one that Hyat could carry more than 2 feet.  But we managed to find one for each of us.  Buck went with the bumpy, funky one and I picked a still kinda green one.  I guess we wanted something different this year.  Then we got the 2 smallest we could find for the kids.  But we quickly realized that trying to carry 4 pumpkins and herd/carry 2 kids is a lot of work (but totally worth it)!
The loot!

Picking his pumpkin!
Just hanging out, not quite ready to pick a pumpkin.
After we got back and paid for our pumpkins, we hung out with our sweet neighbors, Cory and Kendra and their daughter Elsee (she is just a few months older than Hyat). Elsee and Hyat were so cute playing together on the hay bales.  We just stood back and laughed because they were both pushing their limits climbing up and down because they didn't want to be outdone by the other.  We love being next door neighbors to these guys (and not only because they are saints in putting up with our dogs)!
The always fashionable, Elsee

Sweet kiddos hanging out (before the melt-down involved with
leaving to go home for naps)!
And Hyat, you will have to forgive me, but I just can't resist the pictures of those cheeks poking out.
Potty Break!
