As we do every year we managed to get out into the woods to do our Christmas tree shopping. Along with us were my dad and the Paul Family. We enjoyed a beautiful day up Hyalite while we sought our perfect tree. Karley and Weston were the first to find a keeper, and then my dad found one for he and my mom. We headed down the road a bit and we starting to face a time crunch. We had left early because Buck had to work later that day and the clock was ticking for us to get him to work on time. At our last stop, Buck went to stomp off into the woods and I was looking alongside the road. Knowing we were out of time, I tracked down Buck and pointed out the ONLY tree with potential. He quickly chopped it down and we were on our way. It wasn't the most romantic of adventures, but we got the job done. As we headed back out of the canyon, we approached a stopped car and quickly realized something wasn't quite right. There had been some wind and he was stopped because a power line and fallen and was across the road. Across the road with one way in and one way out... We went down to check the situation out and chatted with the firemen on scene, we weren't getting out anytime soon and Buck was going to late work - whoops! We had to wait for the energy company to come up and get the power line dealt with. The kids had fun playing in the truck with Hazen while we waited, and we managed to get our tree trimmed up. It went from being more bush than tree to a pretty respectable Christmas tree! Buck was late to work, but otherwise it was a good day! There are no pictures of me and my pops, so you will just have to trust we were there!
