Easter Sunday

Easter Sunday began by Hyat looking out our window and seeing Easter eggs and "bunny tracks."  I think the excitement kept him from realize that the bunny tracks were an awful lot like mom's footprints in the snow, but hey it made for an exciting morning.  Buck and I have realized that Easter is really the one holiday that we have very different traditions for.  There were no Easter baskets filled with goodies at his house, and the Easter bunny did not come secretly hide eggs in their yard.  Rather, they may or may not have gotten a little treat on Easter and the Easter eggs were hidden at some point in the day by his dad and his uncles if the entire family was together. At my house we found an Easter basket with filled a few goodies by the backdoor and the eggs had already been hidden by the Easter bunny, which we would excitedly go find on Easter morning.  I am not sure why, but this was the first year this discrepancy in our Easter histories came to light.  We enjoyed the excitement the kids had in finding their baskets and searching for eggs, but next year as they both get older I think we be a little more intentional in our approach to Easter.

And the part you are waiting for, the cute Easter pictures are coming.  The kids were adorable hunting eggs.  Embrie quickly took the lead when they first started hunting, but as soon as Hyat realized that Embrie was on it, he was no longer the nice big brother and got pretty serious.  He would often have to run over and check Embrie's bucket to see how he was fairing in comparison.  Embrie would spy an egg and take off running across the yard for it, but then sometimes she would just start running across the yard for no reason as well.

A a few videos of the action!

Because we had gone to a pre-Easter service on Saturday night, we then met my dad and headed out with Karley and Weston for gopher extermination, four wheel riding and general farm like fun.  And then we finally finished the day off with kiddo naps and an early dinner at my parents house.  A pretty blessed Easter if I have anything to say about it!
