COLORADO! Thomas the Tank Engine - Day 2

On our second day we woke up early and hit the road to finish out our road trip to Durango. Buck was up even earlier to catch a VERY EARLY flight that morning. My mom and I rolled into Durango at lunch time, as planned. My sister picked up Buck from the airport and they were only moments behind us getting to town. We had planned to meet up for lunch before heading over to ride Thomas the Tank Engine. We have been talking riding up Thomas for months now, so Hyat was very excited. The only problem was that right as we pulled him out of the truck (parked in the alley by the railroad tracks) the train was coming. So we showed him Thomas, yelled at my dad (who was working on Thomas) and thought he would be even more excited about riding him. Parenting mistake!!! Hyat was devastated - all he saw was Thomas leaving without him. It took a herculean effort to calm him down and headed for lunch. (I don't think it really helped that he had pent up in the truck for a long day and half). We were super-dooper lucky and Cody, Stephanie and Raine also got to Durango in time to meet us for lunch.

From lunch we headed to the railroad station to catch our ride on Thomas. There we also met our dear friends Erin, Aaron and Emma. Thomas arrived shortly thereafter and we were able to catch up with my dad. It was also at this point that my dad and Buck both had to point out that it was Father's Day and get in some moaning about certain people's failure to act, or even wish them a happy Father's Day. As I said before, little did Buck know that his plane ride to Durango would be all he got for Father's Day. I did wish my dad and Buck a happy day and got Hyat to do the same, but it was a little late.

After riding Thomas, we headed out to Wayne's house to drop off some stuff and get organized to meet friends for a little BBQ at the park. It also gave the kiddos a good chance to squeeze in a nap. We then met up with Cody, Steph and Raine, Desire and her daughter Kayla, Jenn, Cindy, and my mom and dad. We had a nice time relaxing in the park, grilling burgers and giving the kids a chance to play.
